MycoSure Proudly Representing South Africa
Welcome to MycoSure’s second newsletter.

The team has been extremely busy since our February Newsletter. We have progressed quickly over the last few months and we have some exciting updates to share with you.

Proudly representing South Africa – MycoSure selected to join the ProVeg Incubator

MycoSure is one of only 12 start-ups selected from hundreds of applications, across 42 countries, for the 2023 summer ProVeg Incubator. The ProVeg Incubator is part of ProVeg International and is the world’s leading accelerator for pioneering plant-based, fermentation and cultured food startups.

This is the 10th ProVeg cohort and we are proud to be the first South African start-up (or second African start-up) invited to the program.

Selection included a cash investment as well as inclusion in a three-month incubator program. 
The incubator kicked off in early April and, even a few weeks in, our exposure to passionate fellow start-ups and ProVeg experts and mentors is transforming how we are thinking about our business. 

The incubator ends on the 22nd June, which is Demo Day.

We are making great progress on our Alternative Protein Proof of Concept  

We have successfully completed key steps in our strain isolation, cell bank preparation and inoculum build up. We have also analysed two cryogenic preservation processes as part of cell bank storage strategy. 

Our focus over the next few months is working towards our first-generation product prototypes. 
This exciting stage entails us moving from bench research to fermentation in 30l bioreactors.  
 
It includes key steps in cultivation variables, separating out the mycelium biomass from the liquid growing medium, and formulation testing.
