This week MycoSure co-founder and CEO Charles Reed spoke as part of the Science Forum South Africa 2024 hosted by Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) at the CSIR International Conference Centre.
SFSA 2024 theme is to ‘ignite conversations about science’.

Charles was part of the panel that spoke about Technology and Skills Development initiatives for Biomanufacturing in Africa and specifically the opportunities and challenges faced by small businesses and start-ups.

Amongst other key points. Charles highlighted the need for additional fermentation capacity for both R&D purposes and to support small businesses with initial contract manufacturing runs (CMO) while they test and establish markets.

He also highlighted the opportunity for young scientists, food technologists and engineers to explore careers in biomanufacturing.
