MycoSure 2024 Year end Newsletter

THE NATURE OF FOOD
Proof of Concept Complete: Scaling New Heights
We’re excited to have concluded our initial proof of concept (PoC) successfully. Our journey started with 3 strains which we took to 30L bio-rector scale before selecting our first strain to take to 1,000L scale. While we retain the R&D of all our strains, the strain we specifically selected as our first to take to scale was based on a number of key considerations such as nutritional profile, yield and regulatory approval requirements.
Ready to taste the future

We are currently producing and packaging MycoSure myco-protein samples. These samples will be provided to several leading Food and Beverage partners in the new year to enable their development teams to work with our myco-protein in their own product line development. We’re looking forward to sharing pictures of first-generation products developed by these partners using our myco-protein.

Recognition that fuels us forward

As a team we were proud to be selected as part of the South African cohort of the Climate Finance Accelerator (CFA). CFA is a technical assistance program funded by the UK Government to accelerate climate finance to emerging markets and developing economies.

A key objective of the program is to address the limited pipeline of bankable, low-carbon projects. Projects were selected based on (i) climate mitigation potential (ii) project maturity (iii) financial structuring including the potential for scale and (iv) gender equality and social inclusion (GESI) impact. MycoSure was one of ten companies selected in the core cohort from 173 applications across 6 sectors.

A special thanks to CFA’s global partner PwC and local partners the National Business Initiative (NBI) and Green Cape.

Collaboration: the key ingredient

As a business, our position has always been that collaboration across sectors including the public sector is vital if we are to address climate resilient food production – or any other key sustainability challenge.

We are proud that MycoSure continues to be seen as an example of both an impactful business and collaboration between private and public sector. To this end, we were recently profiled by our technology partner the CSIR (Council for scientific and Industrial Research)

The Power of an Ecosystem
MycoSure has been able to cover ground very quickly because of the amazing support we continue to get from our advisers, technical partners, and a number of other businesses and individuals that have selflessly shared their expertise with us. A common theme across all these organisations and people is their recognition that not doing anything to help solve for sustainable food production, is quite simply no longer an option.

Thank you

We thank you for your on-going support and we wish you, and your families, a wonderful festive season. We look forward to sharing more news about our journey to building Africa’s first myco-protein facility in the new year.
